SALARY $22.00 PER HOUR @ 85 hours Bi-weekly

Required documents: Valid drivers' license, Social Security Card, Birth certificate, High School Diploma or GED, name change documents if applicable, if military - DD214 member 2 or 4 copy, arrest/charge history - (criminal/misdemeanor).

Pass The Corrections Basic Abilities Test (CJBATCO)- to register and schedule test date go to https://home.pearsonvue.com/fdle/bat there is a $39 fee.

We are an 8.5 hour shift institution with 3 shifts (7:00 am - 3:30 pm, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, 11:00 pm - 7:30 pm) - must be willing to work any shift after completing academy.

Overview:
As a Correctional Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of our correctional facility. This is a challenging yet rewarding position that requires strong interpersonal skills, conflict management abilities, and a commitment to upholding the law.

Duties:
- Maintain order and discipline among inmates within the facility
- Conduct regular patrols and inspections to ensure security
- Monitor inmate activities and respond to any signs of misconduct or potential threats
- Enforce rules and regulations within the facility
- Conduct searches for contraband items
- Escort inmates to various locations within the facility, such as courtrooms or medical appointments
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports on incidents, inmate behavior, and other relevant information
- Operate CCTV systems to monitor inmate activities

Skills:
- Conflict management: Ability to effectively handle conflicts and de-escalate potentially volatile situations
- Law enforcement: Knowledge of laws, regulations, and procedures related to corrections
- CCTV operation: Proficiency in operating closed-circuit television systems for surveillance purposes
- CPR and first aid: Certification in CPR and first aid techniques to provide immediate medical assistance if needed
- Report writing: Strong written communication skills to accurately document incidents and write comprehensive reports
- Military experience: Experience in a military or paramilitary setting is preferred but not required

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years old, no age cut off
- Must pass a thorough background check and drug screening
- Physical fitness and agility to perform job duties effectively
- Ability to work extended shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
