What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Nursing position at Holmes County General Health District?
The Holmes County General Health District is actively seeking a qualified candidate for the full-time position of Director of Nursing. Under the general supervision of the Health Commissioner, the Director of Nursing will be responsible for providing oversight to the agency’s nursing division, including clinical services, WIC, and CMH. This individual may also assist with delivery of care and may assist in communicable disease investigations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
1. Supervises the nursing/clinical staff and is responsible for the general administration of the nursing division which includes WIC, the CMH program, GVO grant, TB program, communicable disease, and community clinic.
2. Conducts home visits to assist families in the CMH program.
3. Assists the Epidemiologist in communicable disease investigations and reports communicable diseases to the Ohio Department of Health via the Ohio Disease Reporting System (ODRS) as required by Ohio Revised Code.
4. Performs clinic duties and direct patient care, such as administering immunizations, when needed.
5. Maintain vaccine inventory.
6. Provides health education to the staff and the community regarding blood borne pathogen safety, lead safety, injury prevention, communicable disease prevention, etc.
7. Works with the Medical Director to ensure that standing orders are maintained.
8. Creates, reviews, and revises clinical policies and procedures.
9. Maintains required licensure and certification.
10. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES MUST POSSESS:
Must have an associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing and hold licensure in the State of Ohio as a registered nurse. Must have at least five (5) years of work experience as a nurse, two (2) of which must be in a supervisory role or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Public Health nursing experience is a plus.
Licensure or Certification Requirements
Registered Nurse with the State of Ohio Board of Nursing; must be CPR certified through the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association, must possess a valid State of Ohio driver’s license and remain insurable.
