Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate RN/LPN Unit Manger to manage the daily operations of our nursing unit. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and a passion for improving resident care. In this role, you will supervise nursing staff, manage scheduling, ensure compliance with state-specific rules, and promote the well-being of our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the efforts of nursing staff to provide high-quality care for residents, ensuring compliance with the Nurse Practice Act.
- Manage your unit to achieve and maintain the highest standard of resident care.
- Ensure that staff adheres to scheduling and monitor overtime to prevent unapproved hours.
- Develop and recommend staff training and development programs using quality assurance indicators, incident report investigations, and direct observations.
- Participate in staff counseling, disciplinary actions, and terminations as permitted by the state practice act.
- Coordinate timely and appropriate communication with physicians and ensure prompt interventions.
- Audit resident charts regularly, including assessments, MARs/TARs, and ADL documentation, to ensure compliance.
- Schedule and direct the nursing staff within the scope of the state practice act.
- Provide guidance, supervision, and monitoring of medication administration by Certified Medication Aides (CMAs).
- Monitor employees’ adherence to scheduled meal and break times.
- Ensure timely and appropriate serving of meals and monitor food trays during meals.
- Optimize the use of personnel, supplies, equipment, and facilities within your unit.
- Conduct rounds at least twice daily to monitor resident care and ensure adherence to care plans.
- Recommend the purchase of equipment or materials to improve nursing services.
- Maintain a calm environment by monitoring and reducing noise levels on the unit.
- Ensure appropriate and timely documentation of resident care activities.
Qualifications:
- Current valid Nebraska State License to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Current CPR certification.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of state regulations and nursing practices.
