Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Ancillary Benefit Associate to join our Avant team in Kansas City, MO. This role will provide support in the marketing and service of group employee benefit insurance programs, to contribute to profitability and value, and give overall team support including evaluating the needs and risks of the client and creating a strategy specific to those needs. The support provided will be in accordance with established objectives and procedures of Holmes Murphy and Avant Specialty Benefits.

Interacts directly and independently with Broker Account Teams, Carriers, and Avant team members to manage day-to-day tasks for assigned clients, according to Avant best practices, to ensure that both client expectations and Avant goals are met on time and within budget.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain carrier lists, product knowledge, and handle requests for demonstrations and maintenance.
  • Assist with the RFP process, including data gathering, RFP building, addressing inquiries, monitoring pricing events, and preparing final sales presentations.
  • Support Account Managers by ensuring accuracy in reviewing coverages, renewals, applications, new business submissions, policies, premiums, invoicing, and SPD’s.
  • Work within established timelines to complete tasks and milestones.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and review data in systems like Excel, Workday Strategic Sourcing, and Salesforce.
  • Review and prepare data for marketing presentations, ensuring accuracy by coordinating with staff, vendors, and carriers.
  • Support the Relationship Manager during discovery, RFP, and implementation phases.
  • Foster relationships with account managers, assisting with planning, calendaring, and strategy.
  • Meet deadlines for new and renewal presentations.
  • Assist in campaign activities, including content development, pipeline monitoring, proposal preparation, and ongoing service support.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma required; College degree preferred.
  • Experience: 0-3 years’ experience in employee benefits, human resources, insurance, or other related fields.
  • Licensing: Active state-specific Life/Health Insurance agent license, or the ability to obtain within three months of hire. Technical designations such as CEBS, CLU, etc. preferred.
  • Skills & Technical Competencies: Proficient knowledge of employee benefit coverages and the ability to apply that knowledge in the performance of the job duties. Read, understand and analyze Life and Disability, Worksite, Dental and Vision coverages, forms, and policies. Actively contributes to defined workflows, including related processes, procedures, and deliverables, and utilizing resources to deliver a world class client experience and adhering to compliance requirements.
