Senior Finance Manager for Global Captive Insurance

We are seeking an International Finance Manager for Insurance Captives to join our team in Waukee, Iowa. In this exciting role, you will play a pivotal part in managing the financial operations of our global captive insurance programs, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to our executive team. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial analysis, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the successful execution of our financial strategies. Your expertise will help guide our captives to achieve optimal financial performance and support our mission of delivering exceptional service to our clients.

Essential Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial management of our international captive insurance operations.
• Manage and coordinate international travel to meet with clients, stakeholders, and partners
• Prepare and present detailed financial reports and analyses to executive leadership.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
• Conduct financial audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
• Provide leadership and guidance to junior finance team members.
• Implement and manage captive collateral requirements.
• Integrate year-end audits and complete ICS audit confirmations.
• Prepare and recommend distribution amounts for captives.
• Reconcile ICS reimbursable accounts and corporate credit cards.
• Negotiate pricing with financial partners (audit, tax, actuary, captive management, banking).
• Enhance monthly bank statement reconciliations and accruals for captive managers.
  
  

Management Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the team, including hiring, coaching, performance feedback, and career development.
• Manage timesheets, PTO/RTO requests, and compensation decisions.
• Facilitate team meetings and attend training sessions.
• Coordinate initial and ongoing training.
• Support and maintain standardized processes.
• Provide backup assistance as needed.
  
  

Additional Responsibilities

• Compile and review fiscal year-end and interim financial statements.
• Prepare budgets and financial projections.
• Monitor cash and investment balances.
• Generate special financial reports.
• Track and implement new accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Supervise the ICS Financial Analyst team.
• Develop and analyze submissions for captive feasibility studies.
• Oversee captive management on the consulting platform.
• Track and report on captive assessments and sharing.
• Present financial information to Captive Boards and Committees.
  
  

Qualifications

• Education: Accounting degree; CPA or CFA preferred.
• Experience: 5-7 years accounting experience, preferably in the insurance industry. Offshore banking a plus. Exposure to investment. Management experience preferred.
• Skills & Technical Competencies: Proficient in Excel, Word, and other accounting software, with the ability to manage multiple tasks during peak periods. Occasional overnight travel. Development of financial knowledge, applying relevant financial principles and practices throughout daily responsibilities to deliver quality work and accurate outcomes. Foster relationships by seeking to understand appropriate parties, prioritizing problem-solving, and collaborating to deliver unique and impactful solutions. Analytical skills to identify opportunities or root causes, apply logical reasoning to analyze the facts, and develop and execute effective outcomes.
