What are the responsibilities and job description for the Childcare Worker position at Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church?
The Childcare Worker will provide reliable coverage of the childcare needs of Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church through consistent participation in the Sunday morning nursery schedule and other appointed times requiring childcare.
Essential Functions
- Childcare Staffing: Participates in the staffing of the nursery each Sunday morning, for RE class time and Worship Service. Provides staffing for other church related events beyond Sunday morning RE and Worship service as needed. Notifies Childcare Supervisor as soon as possible when sick or otherwise unavailable so that they can find a replacement.
- Communication: Communicates promptly. Checks in weekly with the Childcare Supervisor via e-mail, text or phone call.
- Maintains Nursery Space Each Week: Helps to maintain the nursery space each week through putting away toys, cleaning up snacks, and spraying and wiping down toys after use.
- Record Keeping: Maintains weekly Sign-In/Sign-Out sheets. Records all hours worked and submits them in a timely fashion to the appropriate person.
- Safe Congregation Guidelineds: Follows all prescribed guidelines for Safe Congregations including minimum number of childcare workers (2).
- Time Management: Will arrive on time for all childcare related services, and stay until all children are collected.
- Supervision of Children: Will supervise all children in the nursery monitoring their needs and safety.

CPR certification for children and background check will be required and will be provided at the employer’s expense. Childcare Providers must be 18 years of age or older.
