Summary
The Business Development Manager is instrumental in driving the growth of the organization. This role is responsible for generating profitable revenue by sourcing new customers and accounts, growing, and retaining existing accounts, and providing unmatched customer service. The Business Development Manager will collaborate with the Marketing team to advance ideas for brand awareness and marketing that support increased business development and client interactions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive the acquisition of new leads and management of the full pursuit through award or loss
- Prepare the team for client interviews while taking an active role in the interview process
- Actively solicit bid requests from owners, landlords, owners’ reps, architects, and others involved in construction projects that meet Holt’s strategic interests and core capabilities
- Collaborate with appropriate internal team members as well as Director, Business Development into all pursuits
- Aid in the conversion of client prospects into successful business relationships
- Utilize research tools from internal and external data sources to gain competitive advantage and spearhead cold calling initiatives translating them into leads
- Oversee the preparation of proposals in response to bid requests
- Ensure that Holt is well represented in discussions with owners and consultants to build a strong pipeline of future work
- Report sales results, market conditions, and account metrics with CRM software.
- Maintain strong marketplace awareness of potential construction projects that are part of Holt’s strategic plans and core competencies
- Maintain good relationships with clients and potential clients by arranging meetings and building rapport
- Attend weekly sales and marketing meetings and report prospects and status updates to the Director, Business Development
- Manage client and networking events
- Attend on average, 1 to 3 after hours industry events, client entertainment or meetings per week
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience performing business development or marketing activities for real estate, architectural or construction related firms
- Must be proficient in social media technologies (i.e., LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Hoovers, Google Alerts, etc.) as well as demonstrate the ability to navigate and effectively utilize internet sites to extract business information and perform research
- Knowledge of the NYC real estate brokerage community, as applicable
- Ability to cold call prospective leads and convert leads into new business opportunities
- Excellent interpersonal and selling skills for developing client leads into successful business relationships
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Team player, willing to share information and leads across the enterprise
- Ability to negotiate contracts within established guidelines
