Job Summary: This position is responsible for painting and sandblasting heavy equipment, oil field pump skids, generator packages, and related equipment in a shop environment.

- Performs painting preparation process to assure quality paint application
- Operates painting or coating tools on assigned equipment to improve the appearance that results in customer satisfaction
- Straightens body panels and fenders
- Fills small dents that cannot be worked out with body filler
- Files, grinds, sands, and smooths filled or repaired surfaces
- Sands or sandblasts areas to be painted and cover bumpers, windows, and trim with masking tape or paper for protection
- Primes and paints repaired surfaces with care, skill, and detail using applicable manufacturer paints and standards; details equipment
- Maintains paint booth and painting equipment. Maintains the paint booth clean and in safe working order
- Performs light mechanical work to replace parts (e.g. handles, hinges, panels, etc.)
- Removes and applies equipment decals
- Performs final checks on assembly and installation of parts that were replaced
- Controls labor costs at or below quoted flat rates in order to achieve departmental goals
- Completes necessary paperwork on a daily basis in order to provide timely invoicing
- Maintains and controls company property and resources in a manner to ensure cleanliness and reliability, and minimizes expenses
- Completes special projects as requested by the department supervisor in order to meet customer and/or business needs
- Maintains and completes daily/monthly usage or material consumption reports required for EPA/OSHA; as well as procuring, supplying, and maintaining any current and new MSDS information records for all
- Disposes of hazardous waste in an appropriate manner, and maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
- Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned
- General knowledge of tools, equipment, methods, materials, and terminology used in the painting trade
- General knowledge of safety procedures as they relate to the use of paints, solvents, glues, tools, and equipment
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of estimating, planning, and controlling the cost of repair jobs
- Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and electronic machine systems
- Knowledge of safety procedures as they relate to the use of paints, solvents, glues, tools, and equipment
- Skilled in the application of paints and other finishes by brush or spray gun
- Quality control analysis skills to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
- Operation and control skills for controlling the operation of equipment or systems
- Equipment selection skills by determining the kinds of tools and equipment needed to do a job
- Ability to operate a forklift and an overhead crane
- The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
- The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
- The ability to read, write, and understand information
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to learn the more complex aspects of the paint trade
- Three or more years of experience in painting and/or body work in automotive or similar shop environment preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; associate degree or technical training from an accredited vocational school strongly preferred

- Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
- Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 80 pounds
- Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
- Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
- Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
- Regularly works indoors in non-controlled environmental conditions and around moving mechanical parts, unfavorable fumes and odors, and hazardous chemicals
- May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
- Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
- Exposure to contaminants, small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
