Welder / Line Boring - Shop

HOLTCAT in Irving, Texas is looking for a Shop Welder/Line boring that is experienced in line boring in a shop environment. This position is responsible for providing technical expertise and welding services on heavy equipment in order to satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals.

Essential Functions:

• Performs basic and comprehensive repair welds on equipment and components
• Performs basic and comprehensive arc welding, air arc, gas welding, and cutting
• Fabricates new components from shop drawings and/or blueprints
• Works as a member of a team to provide basic technical services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals
• Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
• Prepares service reports and any other necessary paperwork
• Examines workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications
• Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order
• Performs tasks under minimal supervision
• Assists other Welders
• Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
• Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Advanced knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Advanced knowledge of welding processes and how to make adjustments in  complicated positions
• Advanced knowledge of fabrication using a acetylene torch, plasma cutter, and related equipment
• Advanced knowledge of setting up, and operating a line boring machine
• Advanced knowledge of machinist processes and equipment familiarity
• Must be able to read schematics and blueprints from manufacture
• Advanced knowledge of current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
• Excellent work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality of work
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines to ensure quality work
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding
• Ability to be self-starting and self-motivated
• Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
• Ability to read, write, and understand information
• Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• At least 5 years experience

Additional Requirements:

• Must own tools to perform repairs

Travel:

• Up to 10% travel may be required
