The Commercial Project Developer’s primary responsibility is to proactively engage the commercial, industrial, and institutional markets and consultatively position the value of solar energy to achieve the goals of the client. This will also be driven by an understanding of all available tools in developing a successful project and available channel partners in order to provide the most effective and applicable solutions to your client.
The Developer will be well-versed in a wide variety of utility territories, rate structures, incentives, and renewables programs. This role will require the origination of client relationships, evaluation of current energy costs and potential savings, site control, knowledge of solar design concepts, and economic feasibility analysis and validation.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborates closely with all facets of the team to be successful in delivering quality projects to customers
- Works across all divisions throughout organizations, to include engineering, operations, estimating and construction teams, to successfully evaluate risk and opportunity and support the execution of all projects
- Effectively collaborates with all internal resources in order to foster a strong team foundation for all potential opportunities on all levels of projects
- Keeps customers informed and engaged throughout the evolution of projects and builds strong and lasting client relationships through transparency and trust
- Maintains constant visibility of project risks and maximizes opportunity to drive revenue for the business
- Maintains a network of strong channel partner relationships and proactively seeking new channels of growth
- Constantly pursues strategic opportunities and relationships to deliver the best quality projects to our customers and enable a clear path to revenue growth
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of solar and construction industry
- Ability to consistently be aware and attentive to a client’s motivation and goals
- Ability to navigate complex deal scenarios and adhere to a critical path to successfully deliver executable project(s)
- Computer and related software knowledge and/or experience and the ability to learn/use new computer programs to include MS Office products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a manner that promotes trust and desire to conduct business and allows for fielding all forms of feedback
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with both internal and external customers
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and conceptual skills
- Strong presentation and negotiation skills with a wide variety of audiences ranging from educational, sales and technical situations
- Ability to address all respective levels of a customer organization and effectively appeal to their goals.
- Ability to identify complex problems and to review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, high volume situations and environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of four years’ experience in sales and/or consulting required, six or more years’ preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred

- Up to 20% travel, to include possible overnight stays

Work Environment:
- This job is generally performed in a professional office environment, in environmentally controlled conditions and outdoor conditions on jobsite
- Occasionally works outdoors and may be exposed to weather extremes conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
- Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
