What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction and Site Services Safety Specialist position at HOLTEC INTERNATIONAL?
Responsibilities:
- Develop technical documents including safety bulletins, policies and procedures; stays current on regulatory and customer HSE requirements; develops site specific HSE plans or EHS bridging documents as required.
- Participate in toolbox talks; accompany supervisors during site visits to identify and correct potentially hazardous conditions; interface with customers and employees to promote an organizational culture that supports safe work practices.
- Perform job safety and job hazard analysis; brief management on safety metrics, changes in regulatory requirements, and strategic initiatives; recommend control measures and personal protective equipment (PPE) specific for each task.
- Conduct safety surveillances, inspections and routine surveys; develop reports, track corrective actions, and use key indicators to monitor trends.
- Investigate accident and near miss incidents; facilitate the incident review process to determine root cause; assist supervisors in preparing injury and loss control reports; recommend corrective and preventative measures; follow-up to ensure all corrective actions are in place and working.
- Interface with union and non-union craft, management, and client representatives.
- Advise site management and serve as a resource for the technical interpretation of health, safety, and environmental regulations including company and client policies and procedures.
- Develop and deliver job specific training to managers, employees and clients to include OSHA 10 and 30-hour safety training, supervisor safety development, new employee orientation, and human performance training.
- Prepare and maintain EHS files and records to include incident reports, OSHA logs, safety surveillance reports, and site service metrics.
- Perform observations for human performance and safe work practices.
Qualification Requirements and Preferences:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from an accredited college.
- 5 years EHS experience in an industrial site (construction and nuclear experience a plus).
- Must be able to think logically and analyze (problem solve, collect data and draw valid conclusions)
- Ability to gain access into a Nuclear Power Plant.
- Previous experience working with direct-hire Union Trades
- Experienced trainer and facilitator

Physical Requirements:
- Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting and lifting
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders to varying heights

- Exposure to dust, noise, and extremes in temperature and humidity
