Holtec International seeks qualified applicants for an SMR Director of Licensing position. The Director of Licensing will join and assist in leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers engaged in designing Holtec’s flagship nuclear reactor SMR-300 managed by SMR LLC, which is a subsidiary of Holtec International. Holtec International a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power generation sectors of the energy industry.
The Director of Licensing will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the SMR-300 licensing strategy, including all license applications, licensing topical reports and white papers, the regulatory engagement plan, and all interactions with the U.S.NRC. This role requires a strong understanding of U.S.NRC regulations, US licensing guidance, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams both within SMR and in every business unit at Holtec International.
Minimum required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial or naval nuclear industry with a strong understanding of licensing and engineering principles. Familiarity with U.S.NRC regulations and licensing pathways. Responsible for the generation of the applicable permits, applications, and related licensing basis documents and compliance with NRC requirements for a new nuclear plant. Responsible for the interface with the U.S.NRC Branch Chief, Project Managers and Technical Staff. Also, responsible for the preparation, review, and approval of correspondence to the NRC involving the SMR-300. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information. Strong leadership and team collaboration skills. Ability to troubleshoot issues and think critically to solve complex problems. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Knowledge of and experience with weld symbols and reading fabrication drawings. Professional demeanor, innovative thinker with the ability to present ideas, concepts, and theories to all levels. Good communication and presentation skills (written and verbal). Ability to travel 10-20% of the time. Onsite position in Camden, NJ, with a flexible schedule.
Additional desirable qualifications include an engineering background, commercial nuclear power plant licensing experience with a focus on utility licensing processes, procedures, and quality assurance.

Provide licensing and engineering expertise and technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, including plans, designs, reports, and updates. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success. Ensure all project activities meet or exceed industry standards, NRC regulations, and company quality guidelines. Regularly update stakeholders on project progress, challenges, and changes in scope. Address technical issues and project challenges, providing solutions to keep the project on track.
