Position: Underground Foreman
Key Responsibilities:
As an Underground Foreman, you will take a leadership role in supervising a work crew and ensuring the efficient completion of job orders. Your key responsibilities include:
- Supervising a crew of 2-6 members for effective job order completion.
- Planning and organizing tasks on a daily and weekly basis for optimal efficiency.
- Identifying, communicating, and troubleshooting problems on the job site.
- Ensuring the crew performs daily preventative maintenance and addressing equipment or vehicle issues.
- Maintaining positive customer relations and upholding a professional company image on the job site.
- Creating a team working environment and fostering a positive atmosphere with crew members.
- Training crew members in various phases of utility construction.
- Communicating progress, crew attendance, and equipment needs to Construction Coordinator and Area Manager.
- Producing high-quality work and maintaining cost-effectiveness.
- Tracking assigned materials and understanding equipment parking locations.
- Performing end-of-day paperwork while overseeing job cleanup.
- Operating equipment (backhoe, trencher, plow, box pusher, tamper, directional drill) and ensuring restoration.
- Supervising and preparing job sites with cones, signs, barricades, and lighting.
Physical Demands:
- Efficient eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to perform physical labor involving frequent lifting (over 50 lbs.), bending, and shoveling.
- Capacity to work overtime, including weekends.
Additional Duties:
- Setting up pedestals, driving ground rods, and reading CATV and/or telephone prints.
Qualifications:
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- At least one to two years of experience in the utility construction industry as a directional drill operator/foreman.
- Competent experience in reading CATV & Telephone prints.
- An insurance-acceptable, valid driver’s license.
- Training in utility safety standards.
Desired Abilities:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and manage employees effectively.
- Competence in decision-making and clear communication with the crew.
- Adaptability to handle unexpected changes on the job.
- Understanding of equipment functionality and its use in job performance.
