Job Summary
The Interventional Radiology Nurse plays a critical role in providing high-quality patient care. This nurse will be responsible for the IR patient prior, during and after the procedure. Will also be responsible for administering medications and assisting during procedures. Holy Cross Health has a mixed lab for Cath lab and Interventional Radiology (there are 5 labs). Procedures performed on the IR side include IR, Vascular, Neuro and emergency Thrombectomy cases.
Responsibilities:
- Assist during procedures by preparing equipment and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures to assess their condition and provide appropriate interventions.
- Perform venipuncture for intravenous access and medication administration as needed.
- Educate patients and their families about procedures, post-procedure care, and any necessary follow-up.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Document patient care accurately in electronic health records (EHR) and maintain compliance with hospital policies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN required, MSN preferred.
- Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS certification (through American Heart Association).
- Minimum of 5 years of specialty specific experience in an acute care setting.
- Advanced computer skills to include data entry and retrieval, including Microsoft specialty products.
