Job Description

Job Title : Respiratory Therapist

Job Specialty : Pulmonary

Job Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 12-hour day shift, Variable 6 : 00 AM - 6 : 00 PM, 3x12 Hr

Guaranteed Hours : 36

Experience : Preferred 1 year of respiratory therapy experience and prior use of electronic medical records (EMR)

License : Current state Licensure (RLT) in applicable state of employment. Must have CRT by NBRC.

Certifications : American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Must-Have :

  • Experience with cardiovascular management
  • Ability in patient monitoring and therapeutic procedures
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with neonatal resuscitation and pediatric care

Job Description :

Perform respiratory procedures under physician direction across diverse patient areas. Responsible for patient assessments, care plans, implementation, evaluation, and necessary revision of therapy plans.

  • Deliver respiratory care procedures in general, acute, critical, and emergency care areas as per departmental policies.
  • Administer therapeutic modalities including patient monitoring, medication delivery, ventilation management, expansion therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing such as ABG's, PFT's, EKG's, cardiac, bronchoscopy, and pulse oximetry.
  • Assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency care by maintaining airways, providing cardiac support, and addressing urgent patient and physician needs.
  • Respond to patient needs effectively and provide patient and family education.
  • Coordinate the transport of patients within the hospital or to other facilities.
  • Document all patient care activities including evaluations and treatment records according to standards of practice and legal requirements.
  • Coordinate effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Anticipate and address potential patient complications related to respiratory care.
  • Prioritize workload and adapt to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, and demands.
  • Participate in personal, professional, and program development.
  • Assist in training new staff, students, and hospital personnel and act as a resource for new team members.

    • This position may include floating to different locations, requiring flexibility and the ability to adapt to new environments and roles.
