What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Shift Coordinator position at Holy Cross Hospital?
POSITION PURPOSE
The House Shift Coordinator position is responsible for coordinating and managing patient care. The House Shift Coordinator is the only member of management that is physically present at the hospital on a regular basis during assigned shifts. During this time, the position is responsible for providing administrative and clinical oversight and leadership throughout the hospital. This position supports and maintains operational objectives at the patient care level, by converting administrative plans into action. The House Shift Coordinator is clinically competent and may be responsible for nurse manager call on a rotating basis.
MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications
Experience:
- A minimum of two (2) years of bedside or supervisory nursing in an acute care setting.
Education:
- Associates degree in nursing required. Current Registered Nursing License in the State of New Mexico or appropriate compact state required.
- Current Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support are required.
- Annual hospital-wide competencies and education must be completed timely.
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
- Superior interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Knowledge of the mission, organization, programs, and requirements of the healthcare delivery system of Taos Health Systems.
- Knowledge of nursing scope of practice in New Mexico. Understanding of applicable laws of acute care operations, such as Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).
- Skill in oral and written communication in dealing with a variety of individuals.
- Ability and utilization to recognize, anticipate and respond to the needs of customers/patients in a caring, respectful and courteous manner that leads to satisfactory resolution for the customer/patient.
- Strong skill set computer and telecommunication devices.
- Analytical ability to evaluate complex patient scenarios, critical thinking skills.
- A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
