What are the responsibilities and job description for the School-Age Teacher position at Holy Cross Lutheran Preschool and Extended-Care?
Holy Cross School-Age Program is currently looking to hire an additional School-Age Teacher in our school-age program, which serves children Kindergarten – 3rd grade in our Early Childhood setting. Our program serves as an after-school program during the school months and an all-day program during the summer months.

Holy Cross After-School Program has a large, interactive classroom environment offering various interest areas and activities such as art projects, STEM activities, team games, pretend play, and many more hands-on and active learning allowing children to be creative, discover, explore, and imagine. Our school-age program then transforms into an All-Day Summer Program spending June/July/Early August actively engaged in many summer fun activities! Our summer school-age program has monthly calendars filled with field trips, walks to the park, swim days, special guest/activities, and more. Hours/Job Information
- School-Age Program (Kindergarten - 3rd Grade)
- Start Date: April 2025
- Part-Time Hours: Monday - Friday - 2:15pm – 5:30pm
- Additional hours or full-time hours may be possible
- Full-Time summer hours would be preferred (May 27th – August 8th or end of August) – Summer hours will be determined based on summer enrollment and schedules.
- Hours of program operation are 7am-5:30pm
Responsibilities of Teacher Assistant
- Be committed to providing children with a quality, caring Christian environment full of love, learning, and fun.
- Work together with the school-age teaching team and directors in developing, preparing and implementing activities, lesson plans, curriculum and environmental plans that promote health emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual growth in each child.
- Help supervise and provide transportation (walking or with vans) from Discovery Elementary for children enrolled in Holy Cross After School Program. – Primarily during our all programing
- Help provide transportation (walking or with vans when needed), supervise and actively participate in field trips, swim days, and other special activities/guests. – Primarily during summer programing.
- Engage with the children in both indoor and outdoor activities.
- Help lead teachers carry out lesson plans encouraging children to discover, explore, imagine, and learn.
- Interact with children in a positive, supportive manner, encouraging cooperative play and engagement in both child and teacher directed activities.
- All teachers will warmly greet parents and children daily, console children when insecure or injured, guide and redirect inappropriate behaviors, and support children in learning and development through investigation, exploration, experimentation, open-ended questions, and faith.

- Must have a basic understanding of child growth and development and be able to work with various developmental needs of children.
Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Must be at least 18 years old and able/willing to drive (10-13 passenger) vans for field trips and transporting children after school.
- Knowledge of Child Growth and Development
- Experience working with children (Early Childhood, Child Care, Elementary ages)
- Applicants will need to meet state requirements that apply for child care centers
- Applicants will need to complete background checks required by state licensing
