Skilled Nursing Facility Medicaid Pending/Billing Associate
Holy Family Senior Living, Inc. (HFSL) is a non-profit, faith-based organization providing long and short-term care and senior living options to older adults. We are seeking an experienced full-time skilled nursing facility Medicaid Pending/Billing Associate at our campus in Bethlehem, PA.
The Medicaid Pending/Billing Associate administers the billing operations of the long-term care, short-term rehabilitation and personal care units. Timely and accurate billing and collection of accounts receivables is the primary focus and responsibility.
Essential job functions include:
- Monthly audit of each payer type to assure accuracy and research and rebill as required.
- Process all ancillaries, adjustments, refunds, and cash postings/deposits for monthly billing.
- Oversee monthly billing process, including:
- Primary review of monthly billing calculation report & correction of errors.
- Create and review therapy, pharmacy, lab, x-ray, and respiratory uploads.
- Additional monthly ancillary charges to be posted (Supplies, Beauty & Barber) Monitor timeline and ensure monthly closing schedule in PCC is met.
- Post cash receipts for month end close, as necessary.
- Post adjustment transactions for month end close, as necessary.
- Ensure timely verification of all insurances.
- Ensure daily census is reported accurately, verify payers, insurance information, Medicare A days used, authorizations, etc. and determine impact of changes on billing.
- Work with parties to collect outstanding receivables in a reasonable timeframe.
- Review all fee schedules and payers in billing software and work with host to setup, correct or maintain information.
- Monitor incoming bulletins from various payer sources and educate staff on changes.
- Develop, review, communicate and recommend changes to Director of Revenue Cycle and CFO. Revise Department Policy and Procedures manual.
- Communicate closely with Clinical Reimbursement and Therapy departments regarding any resident care aspects/changes in care affecting billing.
- Participate in weekly and monthly meetings including A/R Meeting, Utilization Management, Triple Check, Quality Assurance, etc.
- Generate final bills.
- Process RFSM (Resident Fund) transactions monthly.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum 5 years of SNF experience is required.
- Candidates MUST have thorough knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and Managed Care/Insurance billing processes and insurance verification processes in a skilled nursing/long term care environment.
- Computer proficiency with PointClickCare and billing applications required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities as cited above.
