Position Summary
The Vice President for Mission Integration assists the University President, trustees, faculty, administration, staff, students and alumni to integrate the Mission and Core Values of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth; the Mission and Core Values of Holy Family University into all aspects of University life and curriculum. This position serves as a resource for orientation and education that will help to increase awareness of the University’s Mission and Core Values and the heritage and charism of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. In partnership with the other members of the University’s senior leadership team, the Vice President will ensure that all decision-making at the University is consistent with Catholic Social Teaching and the Mission and Core Values of the University. The Vice President for Mission Integration will collaborate on all levels to create and maintain a safe environment that is welcoming and supportive for all students, faculty and staff, and a culture at the University that is one in which conversations about challenging issues are educationally productive. The Vice President will be a visible leader on campus modeling the core values of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth and extending its mission to families.
The Vice President supports the creation and maintenance of programs, policies, and procedures that are mission-consistent, and serves as an ombudsman to facilitate mission-effectiveness across the University.
The Vice President for Mission Integration must understand and embrace the mission of Catholic higher education and must be well-informed regarding Catholic Social Teaching and its application to the work of higher education. The Vice President for Mission Integration must be committed to the core values, mission, goals, and objectives of Holy Family University.

- Provide leadership to strengthen the University’s Catholic identity and increase evidence that the University’s Mission and Core Values, as well as the Congregation’s charism of Family, are lived realities; and provide visionary leadership to strengthen the University’s commitment to providing an atmosphere of welcoming, community and belonging. (35%)
- Plan, organize, and collaborate in creating opportunities for Mission Orientation and Education for the University’s constituencies, to include formation of staff and faculty leadership and support personnel, in the Mission and Charism of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth; and plan, organize and collaborate in promoting a culture rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition (20%)
- Develop opportunities for the university community, and, especially Residence Life, to embrace the Mission and Core Values in tangible ways that reflect our Catholic identity and commitment to serve the people of God. (10%)
- Collaborate with the Mission Council and others in assessing Mission Effectiveness and Mission Integration initiatives across the University; (10%)
- Serve as an advocate for powerful communication of the Mission and Core Values in all venues – written, online (including website), publications, in-person presentations, and word of mouth, in order that the meaning and significance of the University’s values are represented clearly and consistently, optimizing their acceptance, remembrance, and practice; (10%)
- Represent the University, the Mission Integration Office, or the Office of the President as requested, on committees, such as strategic planning, the Congregation’s Mission Advancement Committee, or other groups, and serve as a member of the senior administration; and, as appropriate, assist the University President with special projects. (15%)
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the University President to ensure the identity of Holy Family University as a Catholic university sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth.
- Develop and facilitate a Mission Council comprised of representation from all areas of the University to assist in strategic planning and mission activities for the University.
- Develop and facilitate mission orientation and education programs for University constituencies, and support human resources functions, including search committees, to optimize mission effectiveness.
- Work collaboratively with the Mission Council in developing and facilitating Mission Mornings at the beginning of each semester.
- Help to improve the documentation and improvement of mission effectiveness.
- Lead the development and implementation of proactive initiatives in support of the university's strategic plan to create a learning and working environment where all have an opportunity to succeed
- Develop opportunities for members of the University community to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the mission, heritage, and legacy of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, and to embody Nazareth core values in their work as employees of the University, a sponsored ministry of the Congregation.
- Develop opportunities for Board, senior administration, faculty and staff to understand and contextualize the work of the University within the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
- Assist the University President in strengthening and protecting the university Brand as it relates to Mission and reflects our core values and tagline “The Value of Family” across communications, including what individuals communicate through their presence and performance.
- Collaborate with Mission Council to ensure the integration of the University’s Core Values and Catholic Social Teaching across the University.
- Serve as a member of the senior administration and participate as a member of select university committees, such as strategic planning, or other groups, such as the Congregation’s Mission Advancement Committee, and, as appropriate, interface with local agencies and organizations.
- Prepare an annual unit report for the University President.
- Observe the highest standards of integrity in conduct, attitude, appearance and confidentiality as a representative of Holy Family University and its Mission and Core Values.
- Provide leadership and oversight of Campus Ministry.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the Interfaith Committee.
- Oversee and provide leadership of the Family Center.
- Oversee the Vietnamese Seminary Project/2nd Language Program

- An active Catholic with knowledge of the sponsoring Congregation, the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, with knowledge and understanding of the Mission and Core Values of Holy Family University and of the Mission and values of the Congregation. A Sister from the Congregation of the Holy Family of Nazareth would be welcome.
- Master’s degree: graduate degree in theology, education, or related area preferred.
- Ten years’ experience in mission related ministry with a minimum of five years’ experience in higher education at faculty or staff level.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to follow university policies and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, faculty and staff, students and the public.

Work Environment:
Operates in an office environment, that may have frequent interruptions. The area is well-lit, temperature controlled and free from hazards. Noise level is generally quiet to moderate.
Physical Requirements:
Communicates frequently, in person, over the phone, or via a computer. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communication. Regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a computer keyboard. Operates standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Certification/Licensure:
- Driver’s license required.
