Long-Term Substitute Teacher – Human Geography

Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable long-term substitute teacher to teach Human Geography in the Upper School during the Fall 2025 semester. The assignment will begin in August 2025 and conclude in October 2025, covering for a teacher on leave. This position involves teaching multiple sections of Human Geography and actively engaging with students in and beyond the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach multiple sections of Upper School Human Geography, following established curriculum and lesson plans.

• Provide meaningful and engaging instruction that promotes critical thinking and geographic literacy.

• Assess and evaluate student work and provide timely, constructive feedback.

• Collaborate with department members and instructional leaders to ensure continuity and alignment.

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and classroom activities.

• Participate in school life, including any relevant faculty meetings or events during the term of the assignment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in History, Geography, Social Studies Education, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

• Prior experience teaching at the high school level, preferably in Human Geography or a similar discipline.

• Strong classroom management skills and a passion for engaging students in the study of the world.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
