What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lower School Learning Specialist position at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School?
Holy Innocents Episcopal School (HIES) is seeking a full-time Lower School Academic Learning Specialist beginning August 1, 2025. HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish day school in the country, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. HIES is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.
The Academic Learning Specialist will work with all students in the Lower School. The Specialist will also coordinate differentiated instruction with grade-level teachers. The Learning Specialist will have well-developed interpersonal skills and work well with both students, families and faculty members. The Learning Specialist must be able to work independently and have strong organizational skills. Work is performed under the supervision of the Lower School Principal.
Typical Duties
- Provide assistance and instruction to students in Lower School classrooms.
- Use differentiated instruction to reach all types of learners.
- Deliver student-centered teaching, positive classroom management and imaginative assessment methods.
- Demonstrate a proactive and dynamic teaching style.
- Other duties as assigned by the Lower School Principal or the Head of School.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
- Bachelors degree required, preferably in Education or related field.
- At least 3-5 years of prior experience with curriculum design in grades 1-5 required.
- Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator (OGCE) Level certification strongly preferred.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing and safety training required.
