About the Role
The Residential Care Associate at Villa Marie Claire Hospice provides personalized support to patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being. This role works closely with Registered Nurses to maintain high standards of care in a hospice environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Personal Care: Assist patients with daily hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing, while maintaining their dignity and comfort.
- Mobility Assistance: Safely aid patients in moving around, using mobility aids as needed, and following proper lifting procedures under RN supervision.
- Nutrition Support: Prepare and serve meals, monitoring dietary instructions and reporting concerns to the RN.
- Environment Management: Maintain a clean and safe patient environment by tidying rooms, sanitizing equipment, and storing supplies properly.
- Incontinence Care: Provide appropriate care for incontinent patients, including catheter maintenance and bowel/bladder training programs.
- Patient Comfort and Emotional Support: Respond promptly to patient requests, offering comfort measures like back rubs and repositioning patients as needed.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient care through forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow infection control protocols, participate in safety drills, and respect HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality.
- Team Collaboration and Communication: Effectively work with the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care and communicate changes in patient condition or needs promptly.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1-3 years experience in residential or long-term care preferred
- CNA or CHHA certification upon hire (CPR-American Heart Association certification also required)
Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
