A Brief Overview
Directs and monitors the daily activity of the department of radiology.
What you will do
- Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs department functions and activities to achieve objectives and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with radiology management to support the philosophy, goals and objectives, standards and policies and procedures of the nursing department.
- Establishes standards of performance and performance improvement for departments within the scope of responsibility.
- Ensures that the Policies & Procedures specific to Radiology and established patient care standards are maintained by all staff.
- Promotes patients’ rights, and provides consultation to the Radiology managers and other departments to resolve issues related to patient’s rights.
- Completes assignments in a timely manner, thoroughly and appropriately detailed.
- Educates and develops Radiology Managers for new responsibilities and authority to meet departmental needs.
- Maintains a relationship will all levels of staff that provide the opportunity to evaluate the morale, and interpersonal relationships, and promotes methods to resolve issues in these areas.
- Demonstrates the ability to recruit and retain a highly qualified management staff based on valid work-related knowledge, skills, and ability.
- Ensures that standards related to required education, competency assessment, and performance appraisals are maintained in Radiology.
- Identifies educational needs of Radiology personnel and makes appropriate arrangements to see that those needs are satisfied.
- Participates in the development and presentation of education programs for the Radiology staff and other hospital employees as needed.
- Understands and demonstrates compliance with all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Routinely utilized policy and procedure manuals and other available reference materials to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Maintains and respects staff and patient confidentiality.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively represent the hospital and department at internal and outside meetings.
- Inspires confidence of employees and management team by remaining well informed, listening with an open mind and communicating in a highly professional manner.
- Actively contributes to and participates on various committees.
- Ensures that department staff promptly respond to patient concerns and questions on a timely basis.
- Establishes a collaborative relationships with members of the medical staff to improve patient and operational outcome.
- Researches special and alternative programs and / or options to reduce cost on a regular basis.
- Designs and maintains a cost-effective / savings departmental budget on an annual basis.
- Maintains financial accountability by functioning within the established budget.
- Demonstrates the ability to plan and organize the daily operational duties using available Radiology personnel to maximum cost-effective efficiency.
- Demonstrates a commitment to managerial development through participation at meetings, committee membership, and the pursuit of continuing medical education.
- Participates in professional organizations.
- Demonstrates an awareness of social, legal, and economic issues affecting health care, and informs staff members of relevant issues and practices affecting the health care system.
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Job performance requires extensive walking.
- Displays and maintains a positive business demeanor.
- Job requires employee to carry-out responsibilities in patient care and non-patient care areas.
- Incorporates physiological and developmental age of patients into overall plan for delivery of care.
- Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime and evening / weekend hours in order to meet the operational needs of the Department and / or the Hospital.
- Responsibilities will require the ability to read, write and rationally comprehend the English language.
- Must be able to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that quality service is provided to clients and physicians.
- Utilizing any or all Hospital provided equipment and / or safe work procedures; employee shall be required to lift all objects as is practicable.
- The employee must be able to perform the physical requirements of this job, including but not limited to, standing, walking, reaching with arms and hands, climbing, balancing. Must be able to stoop, kneel and / or crouch.
