A Brief Overview
Responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration and modification of a wide range of medical instrumentation, including life support equipment.
What you will do
- Perform acceptance checks on all medical equipment entering the hospital using standard written procedures.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all medical equipment within the hospital using standard procedures.
- In the absence of written procedures, be able to logically determine necessary operational and electronic tests to insure operator and patient safety.
- Troubleshoot a wide range of complex medical equipment and repair down to component level.
- Diagnose equipment problems on the units using prior experience and knowledge of equipment operation.
- Provide formal and informal educational information to physicians, nurses and ancillary personnel, as needed.
- Operate a wide array of simple and complex test instrumentation in order to obtain meaningful data.
- Maintain legible and complete records of all work assignments.
- Demonstrates ability to accurately locate parts and circuit boards and obtain parts ordering information.
- Read and interpret instructional and service manuals and schematics related to equipment.
- Keep abreast of technological advances and assist in up-grading procedures and methods, where indicated.
- Assumes responsibility for on-going education based on individual identified needs.
- Demonstrates the ability to recognize, establish and deal with priorities promptly.
- Informs supervisor of problems encountered with repairs or calibrations.
- Strives to meet deadlines in completing special projects, as assigned.
- Maintains the department in a neat, clean, and orderly manner.
- Observes hospital policies concerning smoking restrictions, telephone usage, infection control, hazardous material handling, and other related rules governing conduct while at work.
- Appears well-groomed and observes hospital dress code; wears identification badge while on duty and maintains a professional appearance.
- Perform other related duties, as requested.
Education Qualifications
- Associate's Degree In Biomedical or Electronic Technology or equivalent experience. Required or
- equivalent experience Required
Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years Minimum of one year experience in electronic repair Required and
- Experience in biomedical equipment repair desirable. Preferred
