A Brief Overview
Echo Technicians produce images through the use of high frequency sound waves (ultrasound) and other noninvasive echocardiography testing equipment. To provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to a particular patient population, these procedures require specialized knowledge and skills. Technicians are required to be able to perform specific technical duties related to echocardiography testing including TTE,TEE, & Stress echocardiograms

What You Will Do
- Identify patients using a patient wristband and written requisition
- Verbally explains exam to patients prior to beginning the procedure
- Performs transthoracic echocardiograms in accordance with departmental protocol
- Proficient in transesophageal echocardiograms and stress echocardiograms
- Knowledgeable in anatomy and cardiac pathology
- Analyze images, data, and patient information for the physician to interpret in the reporting system
- Notify the physician or appropriate clinical staff immediately if abnormal heart rhythms are detected
- Observe strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA guidelines
- Maintain cardiology equipment in cleaning working conditions
- Verbally communicate any equipment malfunction to the Cardiology supervisor & notify Clinical Engineering by placing a service call
- Assist with training new personnel when applicable
- IV Certification required to independently perform contrast studies. (Will train on site)
- Available to be part of on-call rotation if necessary
- Perform any related duties as assigned
- High School Diploma Or equivalent Required
- 1-3 years Minimum 1 year similar experience Required
- (CV) - ARDMS or ARRT - Cardiovascular Upon Hire Required or
- RCS - Registered Cardiac Sonographer Upon Hire Required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
