Responsible for all medication dispensing and preparation functions according to Pharmacy policy and procedure with additional responsibility for ADM (Automated Dispensing Machine) restocking.
What You Will Do
- Displays knowledge of drug nomenclature, dosage forms, strengths, concentrations, etc
- Accurate check and/or fill of medication orders either dispensed via automation or requiring manual pick from automated storage units
- Displays compliance and competence regarding standard procedures for preparing sterile products including departmental policies, aseptic technique, USP 797, documentation, safety precautions, etc
- Displays competence regarding operation of medication management automation and equipment, such as, but not limited to, automated dispensing cabinets, dispensing robot, storage carousel, MIC chambers
- Handles medications in a safe manner to ensure proper storage conditions, avoidance of dispensing errors, tracking of delivery via closed loop system and reports safety or procedural concerns when necessary
- Familiar with and utilization of drug references to obtain necessary drug specific information pertaining to dispensing, preparation, storage, etc of medications
- Displays competence regarding mathematical calculations required for accurate dispensing of pharmaceutical preparations for all medication administration routes
- Displays competence regarding additional responsibilities as trained and assigned such as departmental areas inspections, chemo preparation, medication packaging and robot stocking, scheduling, etc
- Covers alternate shifts based on need for Benefit Time coverage or Department need
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High School Or equivalent experience Required
- less than 1 year Must have recent hospital experience as a Pharmacy Technician Required and
- Long-term care, compounding or retail Pharmacy Technician Required and
- Inventory management and automation experience Preferred
- Detail oriented and ability to work in a consistent and methodical manner (High proficiency)
- LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech NJ Board of Pharmacy Registration Upon Hire Required and
- PHAR-C - Certified Pharmacy Tech Board Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Upon Hire Required
