Job Title : Residential Guard - Per Diem Night shift and weekends
Department : Villa Marie Claire, Upper Saddle River, NJ
Position Summary :
Shall functions as a member of the Villa Marie Claire Security Team providing security services to patients, staff and visitors.
In addition, security officers will be knowledgeable of hospital security systems and procedures, local, state, and federal guidelines, (related to safety and asset protection) and OSHA, NFPA and JC standards.
Will support the concierge as needed.
Requirements :
- Education : High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required
- Skills : Interpersonal communication, de-escalation.
- Experience : Knowledge in the areas of safety and security with specific expertise in Healthcare Security is preferred
- Certification : Valid NJ Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record is required. Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) Certification is preferred.
Essential Functions of the Job :
Immediate intervention in any situation posing a substantial threat to the life and safety of any individual on / or in property owned or controlled by the facility i.
e. code gray, code red, code blue, patient watches, etc
- Required to complete CPI training and be accountable to act in an appropriate de-escalating manner
- Performs vehicle and foot patrol of all buildings, parking lots and grounds to prevent fires, theft and vandalism. Inspects doors, windows and locks to determine level of security
- Ensures through visual identification, that only authorized individuals are admitted into premises. Issues keys to authorized facility personnel and documents appropriately into the log book
- Demonstrate a courteous, professional, understanding and compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients, staff, visitors, physicians and others
- Escorts staff and visitors to and from the parking lot as requested. Assists motorists who require assistance on facility property and perform errands for various departments as requested and necessary (man-power permitting)
- Demonstrate working knowledge of computer-based security systems i.e. access control, CCTV, fire systems and investigates incidents reported by Villa staff, visitors, physicians or patients
- Reports all safety and fire hazards observed on routine foot and vehicle patrol. Assists with traffic control by keeping all fire lanes and fire hydrants and ambulance entrances free of vehicles
- Observes policy concerning fire and safety regulations, infection control standards, smoking restrictions, telephone usage and other rules governing the conduct
