Job Description for Holy Spirit Episcopal Church
Thrift Shop Cashier
We are looking for a team member who is experienced in point of sale retail business. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skill, knowledge of pos equipment and the ability to effectively operate it. The cashier will accept payments, give correct change, verify and document receipts according to the shops procedures. A cashier is a key member of the Holy Spirit Thrift Shop team that is often the first contact our customers have. It is important that the cashier portrays a positive image and attitude to customers, volunteers, and co-workers alike.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet and respond to customers
- Assist customers with needs, inform them of sales, and check out process
- Verify merchandise pricing and quality
- Operate register efficiently and give correct change
- Assist in arranging and maintaining merchandise in store and replace merchandise on sales floor to appropriate places
- Assist in checking dressing rooms and cleanliness of store
- Remain observant of activity in store and help to address theft and prevent shrinkage
- Perform other related duties as requested
All prospective employees of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church must be willing to submit to a background investigation and have a probationary period of 90 days. HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT: As defined by the schedule defined by the Thrift Store Manager or Committee.
VACATION & SICK LEAVE: Begins at 2 weeks paid leave and is otherwise dictated by terms of Employee’s letter of agreement and Parish handbook. (All vacation and sick leave is prorated based on the number of hours the position is scheduled for.) A typical schedule is:
0-2 Years: 2 weeks
3-7 Years: 3 weeks
Over 7 Years: 4 weeks
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
- Hourly Pay: Negotiable Based on experience.
- Heath Insurance: Available through the Episcopal Church Medical Trust (CMT) per Diocesan and Parish policies.
- Life Insurance: Available through Church Life Insurance Corporation per Diocesan and Parish polices.
- Retirement: Available through Church Pension Fund (CPF) per Diocesan and Parish policies.
PERFORMANCE REVIEW: As dictated by terms of Employee’s letter of agreement and the Parish handbook.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.50 - $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
