What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Program Facilitator -Summer Camp position at Holy Spirit School?
Counselors needed for campers entering 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th grades.
Work and play your summer away. Our amazing returning team is looking for new team members who are hardworking, adaptable, dedicated, and fun! We have a large number of staff returning and they want coworkers who have the same work ethic. Are you the person who can keep kids busy for hours without using a device? Are you dependable? Do you work well with others but are also able to make sound decisions independently? If so, you are exactly who we are looking for!!!!
Counselors have an assigned group of 12-15 campers that you spend each day getting to know. Think of yourself as an influencer and make it your goal to go viral at camp! You will travel with your group to special areas and participate in the fun. Leading your group by example will be your greatest asset.
As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and fun environment for our campers. You will be responsible for participating in activities, supervising campers, and ensuring that each camper has a positive and memorable experience.
Counselors must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma
Provide a negative TB Test or TB Risk Assessment signed by a medical professional on or before May 27, 2025.
Complete Background Check paperwork and Fingerprinting required by the Division of Regulated Childcare as well as completing an online Background Check required by the Archdiocese of Louisville (Yes, we need both).
Complete Safe Environment Training provided by the Archdiocese of Louisville.

Available Hours are between 7:30-5:30 - Early Care begins at 7:45, Camp Day is 9-3:30, After Care ends at 5:30. All early care and after care shifts are shared responsibilities. Everyone will take turns each week.

Responsibilities
- Supervision and Safety - These are the number ONE MOST important responsibility!
- Active and constant supervision during mealtimes and outdoor play.
- Support the vision and mission of Holy Spirit School and the Archdiocese of Louisville in your words, actions and social media.
- Maintain a professional yet compassionate and thoughtful relationship with campers. Never engaging with them in or on social media.
- Engage campers and participate in various activities, ensuring safety and fun.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate games if an activity period is cancelled or campers need to wait for an activity to begin.
- Provide campers support and guidance in personal development, self-confidence, teamwork, and social skills.
- Administer first aid when necessary and maintain a safe camp atmosphere.
- Collaborate with fellow counselors and administrative staff to ensure smooth camp operations, activities, programs and the management of challenging behaviors.
- Seek assistance from Administrative Staff when necessary or when parents need to be contacted.
- Maintain a professional demeanor when discussing campers and challenges that arise.
- Foster a positive and inclusive camp culture that encourages participation and teamwork.
- Monitor Camper Health and be aware of any health issues or dietary restrictions for assigned campers.
- Attend pre-camp training sessions where you will develop an understanding of camp policies and procedures. May 27-May 30, 2025: 9-3:30
- Be available to work June 2nd - July 11, 2025, with limited disruptions.
- Be open to feedback and continuously seek to improve personal skills and effectiveness as a summer camp counselor.
- Arrive at work with enthusiasm, patience, and a passion for the campers daily.
- You must be responsible, reliable, and work effectively in a team setting.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
