Operations and Communication Coordinator
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chapel Hill, NC
Work Schedule: Part time, 28 hours per week. Flexible schedule (4 or 5 days). Hourly rate commensurate with experience.
Location: 300 East Rosemary Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27514, onsite position
About Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (HTLC) and Lutheran Campus Ministries in Chapel Hill, NC is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) affiliated congregation. The mission of the church is loving God, loving neighbors. The church is guided by a vision of a Christian community of disciples living and serving through God. Its core values are worship, Lutheran Campus Ministry, outreach, and faith formation. Essential Job Duties HTLC is seeking an Operations and Communication Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operations of the church. The person holding this position serves as the point of contact for office administration, communication (including digital platforms), financial monitoring and facilities management.
The successful candidate will be a creative self-starter who is a team player, able to multitask, confidential in their activities and adaptable to changes and variation in demands over the church year. Working with the Parish Pastor, Campus Pastor, Minister of Discipleship, and Director of Music, the person serves in the following areas:
Primary Responsibilities Administration
● Prepare multiple annual reports with input from pastors, deacons, and staff
● Maintain member information, update Church databases, monitor office supplies inventory.
● Review church policies annually for referral to church council and personnel committee for updating if needed
● Recruit and train volunteer team for office assistance and/or filling in on vacations
Communication
● Coordinate, create, schedule and send Church publications, including all weekly email news (currently Constant Contact)
● Create, format, proofread and print all bulletins with information provided by Director of Worship & Music and/or pastors.
● Maintain and update Church website and social media accounts
Financial
● Responsible for purchase of equipment, maintenance contracts, goods and services in collaboration with appropriate staff and committees
● Communicate with HTLC treasurer and accounting firm, sending receipts and requests for payment on a weekly basis.
● Collect Payroll hours for other part-time staff each month and maintain vacation log for all staff
Facility
● Oversee buildings and property maintenance by working with the Church’s committees
● Represent HTLC to outside vendors/parties for utilities, phone service, City of Chapel Hill issues, contractors, law enforcement and waste management
● Oversee security and safety of property including key access, fire alarm and equipment, maintenance, alarm, key fob systems, and Church Parking Stickers
● Coordinate and communicate with church custodian for supplies and cleaning needs
Required qualifications:
● Knowledge and understanding of the variety of software and technologies used to conduct Church business.
For example: Microsoft Office products, to include but not limited to Word and Excel, church database Constant Contact, Canva, SignUp Genius, Facebook, other social media platforms, Google Workspace, and Zoom
Preferred qualifications:
• Operations experience, preferably in a Christian church

• Commercial Driver's License required: o No
