Holy Trinity School Librarian Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Literary Programming and Student Engagement:
- Select and read aloud books to students in grades PreK-3 through 5th grade during library classes.
- Develop and distribute activity pages that correspond with weekly reading selections for students in PreK-3 through 5th grade.
- Assist students with book selection, fostering independent reading and exploration.
- Research and create Summer Reading Lists for students entering Kindergarten through 8th grade.
- Maintain a central log of all books read to each class to avoid repetition year to year.
Collection Development and Maintenance:
- Research, select, and order new additions to the library collection.
- Supervise the cataloging of new and donated books into the collection.
- Assess donated books to determine their suitability for the library collection.
- Weed outdated or damaged materials from the collection to ensure the library remains relevant and appealing.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile the library’s checking account, including making deposits, processing payments, and ensuring financial accuracy.
- Schedule, organize, and supervise two Book Fairs annually (Fall and Spring).
- Prepare and close the library for the school year, including summer preparation work and end-of-year storage for longevity.
- Oversee correspondence with parents as needed.
Reading Enrichment:
- Facilitate two separate Reading Recess sessions: one for 3rd-4th grades and one for 5th-8th grades.
Supervisory Duties:
- Participate in morning, lunch, and recess supervision as scheduled.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for fostering literacy and engaging students in reading activities.
- Experience managing a library program or similar setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of children’s literature and best practices in library management.
Work Schedule:
This is a part-time/full-time position with required summer work to prepare the library for the school year and end-of-year tasks to secure library resources.

Pay: $25,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
