We are a leading manufacturer and distributor in the Catholic and Inspirational Gift industry seeking a Purchasing & Inventory Control Specialist to join our team! You will work with the sales team, warehouse team and accounting team to service our customers’ needs by ensuring we have the inventory we need when we need it and to further ensure it gets to our customers in a timely manner (business customers only, no consumers.) In order to succeed in this role, you will be self-motivated, energetic, driven with a "go-getter" personality, and customer service oriented!
 
Responsibilities:
 
·      Purchases supplies, materials, and parts for the company.
·      Maintains knowledge of trends, prices, buyers, and delivery conditions to anticipate future material availability; directs purchasing programs accordingly.
·      Develops and maintains inventory databases in SAP B1 for supplies and materials used.
·      Negotiates and completes contracts with vendors for optimal cost and delivery times.
·      Creates and reviews purchase orders and contracts for compliance with company and departmental policies.
·      Collaborates with sales, customer service, and warehouse departments to maximize efficiency in the purchasing and inventory control department.
·      Communicates with suppliers to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, quality, price, or conditions of sale, and to confirm/change orders as needed.
·      Purchases thousands of items – some simple and some complex items. Understands production orders, BOM’s, and how to properly track them in the system for efficiency and accuracy.
·      Follows policies and procedures related to purchasing and inventory control with a goal to maximize efficiency and optimize workflow; brings new ideas to the table to improve efficiencies and operations.
·      Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure all products arrive in good condition.
·      You must be detail oriented, so inventory remains at the proper levels and orders get out the door on-time and accurately.
·      Must be flexible and willing to change focus and direction as needed, as priorities sometimes shift, and you need to be able to change direction as business needs change.
·      Performs other duties as assigned, including warehouse work, as needed and when large orders arrive.
 
Work Environment:
 
This position works in both an office and warehouse setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and may need to use standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers from time to time.
 
Physical Demands:
 
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly sit at a desk and work on a computer, as well as lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
 
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
 
This is a full-time position. Current days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00AM. to 5:00 PM.

 ​Qualifications:
 
  • High School Diploma or GED is required. Associate degree in Business or related field with coursework in purchasing and/or inventory control management, preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years previous experience in buying or purchasing, preferably in an environment with 10.000 SKU’s and working with multiple countries, including China and Italy.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good understanding of supply chain procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with purchasing software.  SAP is required; SAP B1 is a plus.
  • Hard working and on-time.
  • Advanced computer skills with email and Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel, required.

Compensation: $35,000.00 - $42,500.00 per year
