Job Summary
The Assistive Technology Specialist will work with students, families, and educators to assess and address the assistive technology needs of students within the Holyoke Public Schools.
This role requires a strong understanding of assistive technology devices, software, and accessibility features, as well as a commitment to equity and anti-racism
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a related field (i.e. special education or assistive technology)
Three years related experience and / or combination of experience and education
Knowledge of various types of assistive technology devices, software, and accessibility features across different platforms
Knowledge of disability laws and regulations related to assistive technology
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
Conduct assessments to determine the need for assistive technology solutions
Recommend and implement assistive technology devices, software, or modifications
Provide training and ongoing support to students, families, and stakeholders
Stay up-to-date with the latest assistive technology advancements and evaluate new products or solutions
Collaborate with educators, related service providers, families, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to assistive technology implementation and support
Maintain accurate records and generate reports as required
