Summary:
This role oversees Social Services programs including the Aging and Disability Resource Network (ADRN), culturally relevant social activities and support, care coordination, family caregiver support, and mental health. The Social Services Director evaluates the effectiveness of these programs to meet the needs of older adults, people with disabilities, family caregivers, and consumers and develops innovative approaches in program design and implementation of services in a changing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement program policies, goals and objectives

Develop program operating procedures and record maintenance system alongside program managers and contract requirements

Manage personnel in the Social Services programs including recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation. Develop and maintain staff relationships to achieve high staff morale, productivity, teamwork and retention

Develop and manage budgets in conjunction with the Senior Director of Government Programs

Collaborate with Philanthropy team in finding additional community resources, grants, and other funding opportunities, and completing applications.

Develop community resources and funding. Prepare grant applications

Conduct activities which assure compliance with contract requirements and which monitor program effectiveness

Prepare and submit reports to the Sr. Director and to funding sources as required or requested

Establish and maintain positive working relationships with other departments within the agency and with other community partners

Present current program work as lead community information spokesperson when needed

Collect and analyze statistical and anecdotal information about service utilization, service gaps, and barriers to service delivery

Arrange for volunteer and student assistance and supervision as appropriate

Work with program managers to review case records with staff to determine effectiveness of actions taken

Works closely with other agency management, Division of Snohomish County Long Term Care and Aging staff, external/community partners.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social services or other relevant field
-
Five years’ experience in program management and supervision

Effective communication skills, including verbal and written, as well as strong public speaking skills

Empathy for and sincere interest in working with older adults
-
Demonstrated problem solving and multitasking skills
-
Effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); comfortable navigating in Microsoft Windows environment, using internet browsers, and operating in client databases.
Absent any regulatory or contractual requirement for specific education/certification, other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, or related

Experience in the aging field providing services, planning, policy or management

Experience with diverse communities

Fluency in other languages in addition to English
Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This work is performed in an office environment, staff's place of residence and/or in public venues. Some onsite presence in our Snohomish County, WA office is required.

When necessary, the ability to work in a semi-open office setting with frequent in-person interactions.

Must be able to use full range of senses as needed to complete the job's essential duties.

Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds occasionally related to equipment/supplies for public presentations.

Work requires occasional travel away from the office during normal business hours for events, community meetings, and trainings.

SUMMARY OF BENEFITS
Employees working 25 hours or more are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision, basic life, and critical illness insurance, with an increased cost share for employees scheduled for 25-29 hours/week. Employees working 20 hours or more per week receive 11 designated paid holidays plus 2 "floating holidays" per year, as well as paid vacation and sick time. Employees age 21 and older are able to enroll in our 401K plan upon hire and, after one year and at least 1000 hours worked, will be eligible for our matching program.
