Summary:
Homage’s Home Modification program is hiring a Licensed Occupational Therapist to conduct in-home client assessments for older adults in Snohomish County. The program’s goal is to create a safe home environment and help clients participate fully in their daily activities. The OT will visit clients (aged 62 ) on two separate occasions to: 1) assess the client's primary residence for home modifications to meet their specific needs and goals and create a report to the Home Modification office which will prepare a work order; and 2) make a final assessment to ensure the work is completed satisfactorily. Additional duties may be assigned, as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct in-home client visits using an aging-in-place assessment to evaluate functional abilities and the home environment. Recommend cost-effective, high-impact modifications and adaptive equipment to enhance safety and independence

Promote a person-centered approach that empowers older adults to identify their goals and maintain safe, independent living

Educate clients on the relationship between home accessibility modifications and overall health and safety

Identify and report clients experiencing significant memory loss that may compromise their ability to live alone, connecting them with appropriate resources at Homage and beyond

Report any suspected abuse to Adult Protective Services and the Senior Program Manager, MHR

Prepare and submit timely home assessment reports that clearly communicate the need and urgency of recommended modifications or repairs

Draft professional emails, letters, and documentation as needed

Provide program information to clients via phone, email, and in person

Travel throughout Snohomish County to perform in-home assessments

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Current Occupational Therapist License: Must hold an active license to practice as an Occupational Therapist

Aging in Place Focus: Specific expertise or training in aging in place, meaning modifications to the home or environment to enable older individuals to live independently and safely

One Year of Experience: Minimum of one year of hands-on experience in implementing aging in place accessibility modifications, which may include home adaptations, assistive technology, and ergonomic improvements

Comprehensive understanding of Snohomish County's road network and the capability to navigate various driving conditions throughout the region

Proficiency in reading and understanding English to accurately interpret applications, adhere to rules and regulations, and effectively responding to inquiries

Experience in engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Sensitivity and empathy towards low-income older adults and disabled persons are essential to address their unique needs appropriately

Experience handling challenging environments, including hoarding situations and substandard living conditions. Patience and effective communication skills are necessary to work with clients who may resist accessibility modifications

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including: using Outlook for managing emails and calendars; utilizing Teams for communication and collaboration; creating and managing spreadsheets in Excel; drafting and formatting documents in Word; and developing presentations in PowerPoint

Comfort with Microsoft Windows and internet browsers

Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally via phone and email

Collaborative skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment

Willingness to work in varied client environments, including those with strong odors, pets, or cigarette smoke

Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to a business casual dress code during home visits

Valid Washington State Driver’s License, a clean driving record (no moving violations in the past 2 years), and current car insurance
Absent any regulatory or contractual requirement for specific education/certification, other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

Physical Requirements:
This position is generally not physically demanding. Responsibilities are typically performed while walking, standing, sitting, or using steps at client homes. However, some tasks may require stooping, bending, crouching, lifting, carrying, or other physical movements. Candidates should have sufficient vision, hearing, and speech abilities to effectively perform the essential functions of the role.

SUMMARY OF BENEFITS
Employees working 25 hours or more are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision, basic life, and critical illness insurance, with an increased cost share for employees scheduled for 25-29 hours/week. Employees working 20 hours or more per week receive 11 designated paid holidays plus 2 "floating holidays" per year, as well as paid vacation and sick time. Employees age 21 and older are able to enroll in our 401K plan upon hire and, after one year and at least 1000 hours worked, will be eligible for our matching program.
