Mentor-Educator for Middle School Students (In-Person, Cleveland, TN)

Home Care Ops
Cleveland, TN Full Time
POSTED ON 4/17/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/16/2025

We’re a family on a mission to raise two extraordinary humans—Son (13) and Daughter (12)—with confidence, courage, and the skills to thrive in life, not just school.

We’re looking for a mentor-educator who can teach the fundamentals (math, reading, writing, science) and help them grow into who they’re meant to be.

This role is perfect for someone who:

  • Believes real education shapes the whole child
  • Loves the balance of structure and creative freedom
  • Wants to see their work make an immediate, lasting impact
  • Craves meaningful connection over cookie-cutter curriculum

Why This Role Matters

Our kids are deeply thoughtful, emotionally aware, and ready for more than worksheets. They need someone who can meet them where they are and guide them toward:

  • Critical thinking
  • Confidence in communication
  • Emotional regulation
  • Personal responsibility
  • Real-world readiness

You’ll work one-on-one with them in a private setting 3–4 days per week (10–15 hours total), building not just knowledge—but belief in themselves.

What You’ll Do

  • Teach academic subjects through real-life application and curiosity-driven methods
  • Coach them through personal growth moments, not just academic ones
  • Encourage independence, voice, and self-discipline
  • Help them build problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
  • Provide weekly feedback and collaborate with the parent (acting as principal)

What We Offer You

This is a role with purpose—and that comes with real value:

  • Autonomy – You help shape the how, not just follow a script
  • Creativity – Bring your best ideas and passions into the room
  • Connection – Build real relationships that matter
  • Impact – See your work reflected in real-time growth
  • Support – You’re not alone—we’re building this as a team
  • Sustainability – No crowded classrooms, no red tape—just focused, fulfilling work

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience teaching or tutoring middle school-aged students
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Emotional intelligence and a calm, encouraging presence
  • Comfort balancing structure and freedom in learning
  • A genuine desire to mentor and grow with two amazing kids

Bonus points for experience with:

  • Project-based learning
  • Emotional development or SEL practices
  • Homeschooling, micro-schooling, or alternative education
  • Neurodiverse learners
  • Creative tools: music, writing, design, storytelling

The Basics

  • Location: Cleveland, TN (in-person, home-based setting)
  • Schedule: 3–4 days/week (approx. 10–20 hrs)
  • Start Date: May, 2025
  • Pay: Competitive and aligned with experience
