What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ice Box Technician position at Home City Ice?
Job Overview
We are looking for an entry level refrigeration technician to join our team at Home City Ice in Lansing. We're looking for someone to do the preventative maintenance and repairs on the ice boxes/ice merchandisers we have at stores/gas stations/carry outs in the area.
Daily Job Activities
-swapping compressors (we can train for this, but nothing is over 3/4 hp, very entry level)
-fan motors, 3-in-1 starts, thermostats, evaporator repairs
-condenser cleanings, defrost timers, wiring harnesses
-door and hasp repairs, springs, box headers
-ice box cleanouts if necessary
-ability to lift at least 50lbs
-whatever a broken icebox may need!
There is no on-call, and you're home every night with a company vehicle provided for work purposes after you report to work. Tools and Freon are also provided. A refrigeration license (just the level 1) is preferred, but the only thing necessarily required is a desire to learn, some relevant mechanical experience, and reliable transportation to work. If you show an aptitude towards the HVAC trade we would be more than happy to reimburse you for obtaining a license.
