The Asset Protection Specialist at Home Depot is responsible for protecting the company's assets and ensuring the safety of its employees, customers, and vendors. This individual plays a critical role in preventing financial loss due to theft, fraud, and other forms of shrinkage.
Main Responsibilities:
- Investigate Incidents: Thoroughly investigate internal and external incidents of theft and fraud, detain and question individuals caught shoplifting, and take measures to prevent injuries during apprehensions.
- Monitor CCTV Footage: Review CCTV footage, conduct audits of Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS), and analyze exception reports to identify suspicious activity and process individuals involved in theft and fraud.
- Prepare Case Reports: Prepare detailed and accurate case reports in a timely manner, maintain relevant evidence, and testify in court when necessary.
- Ensure Physical Security: Monitor the store's physical security, oversee the implementation of store safety programs, and verify compliance with company standards and policies.
- Train Associates: Educate and train associates on proper operational procedures and store safety compliance standards.
Scope and Environment:
This role typically reports to a Store Asset Protection Manager (APM) or, in stores without an APM, multiple APMS and the Store Manager. The position involves frequent communication with colleagues outside the immediate workgroup.
Working Conditions:
This role is performed in a typical office environment with occasional exposure to factors such as extreme temperatures, machinery, loud noises, and fumes, which can cause some discomfort or a moderate risk of injury.
Travel Requirements:
This role occasionally requires overnight travel, less than 10% of the time.
