ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF KENNEL ATTENDANT:
1. Walks through the kennel areas checking each animal individually for any abnormal activity such as vomiting, diarrhea, or blood in the cage or run. Reports all abnormal activity to Kennel Manager or Veterinary Technician.
2. Recognizes emergency situations, enlisting the aid of Kennel Manager or Veterinary Technician.
3. Marks cage cards correctly for eating, drinking, fecal, and urine production.
4. Feeds and waters animals according to schedules.
5. Cleans and disinfects cages, runs, and yards as needed using hoses and spray bottles of disinfectant. Uses a squeegee to remove excess water.
6. Cleans and disinfects all food and water bowls.
7. Picks up soiled bedding and transports to the laundry area.
8. Places clean bedding in runs with animals.
9. Operates washer and dryer to clean kennel bedding.
10. Administers medications to those animals that require it. (After proper training)
11. Walks and socializes all dogs.
12. Able to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
13. Restrains animals as needed for the Veterinary Technician.
14. Transports dogs as needed.
15. Assists in photographing animals.
16. Maintains cleanliness of the entire kennel.
