Key Responsibilities:
- Volunteer Recruitment: Recruit, screen, and interview potential volunteers, ensuring they meet the agency’s requirements and align with the hospice mission.
- Training and Orientation: Develop and conduct comprehensive training programs that equip volunteers with the necessary knowledge and skills to support patients and families.
- Volunteer Assignment & Supervision: Match volunteers with appropriate assignments based on patient needs and volunteer skills, and provide ongoing supervision to ensure the success of volunteer assignments.
- Communication and Collaboration: Foster strong communication and collaboration between volunteers, the interdisciplinary team, and patients’ families to ensure seamless patient care.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of volunteer activities, hours, and patient interactions, and produce regular reports to track volunteer performance and impact.
- Recognition and Appreciation: Develop and implement recognition programs to appreciate volunteers’ efforts, ensuring a positive and rewarding volunteer experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field (equivalent experience may also be considered).
- Experience in Volunteer Management: Proven experience in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers in healthcare or hospice settings.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication and engagement skills to interact with volunteers, patients, families, and the hospice team.
- Compassion and Empathy: Strong sense of empathy and compassion, with a commitment to providing emotional support to families and individuals during end-of-life care.
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage schedules, assignments, and maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge of Hospice Care: A solid understanding of hospice care principles, end-of-life issues, and the ability to educate volunteers on the hospice philosophy and practices.
