Essential Qualifications
- Previous Caregiving Experience: Personal or professional experience in caregiving is a plus.
- Empathy and Compassion: A deep understanding and sensitivity to the emotional and physical needs of the person being cared for, with a genuine desire to improve their quality of life.
- Patience: The ability to remain calm, understanding, and tolerant, especially in challenging or repetitive situations.
- Attention to Detail: Observant and able to notice any changes in the health or well-being of the individual.
- Communication Skills: Effective, clear, and compassionate communication to ensure the person being cared for feels understood and to provide updates to family members when necessary.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Quick thinking and the ability to adapt to changing situations, often needing to find solutions independently.
- Time Management: Capable of organizing and completing caregiving tasks efficiently.
- English Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally (in person and on the phone) and in writing.
- Respect and Dignity: Ability to treat and care for clients and their property with dignity and respect.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to various living environments and locations.
- Travel Ability: Ability to travel at least 15 miles one way to an assignment.
- Willingness to consent to client safety devices that may include recording devices.
Responsibilities:
- rovide emotional support and companionship to clients, fostering a warm and engaging environment.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including the use of assistive devices when needed.
- Remind and assist with medication management as per the care plan (following state regulations).
- Engage clients in meaningful activities such as conversation, light exercise, hobbies, and cognitive stimulation.
- Accompany clients to medical appointments, errands, or social outings, ensuring safe transportation and support.
- Assist with light housekeeping duties, including laundry, dishwashing, and tidying up to promote a comfortable home environment.
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals, considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Observe and report changes in physical, emotional, or cognitive health to supervisors or family members as necessary.
- Respect client dignity and promote independence while assisting with personal care and daily routines.
