OVERVIEW OF ROLE :
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental programs at Home Market Foods (HMF) Norwood Manufacturing facility and HMF's Norton Warehousing facility. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a safe and healthy work environment for employees, contractors and visitors. The EHS Manager reports into the Director of EHS and works closely with management, employees, and regulatory agencies to develop and enforce policies and procedures that protect the well-being of all stakeholders. The candidate must possess a strong background in Health and Safety cultural activities and improvements as well as Environment and Sustainability initiatives to include monitoring, execution, and recordkeeping of compliance report for State and Federal (Tier II, Form R, GHG, PSM, RMP, etc.). The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of employees and the environment within an organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in line with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and environmental conservation practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, making necessary adjustments to ensure continuous improvement.
- Investigate and report accidents, incidents, and near misses, analyzing root causes and implementing preventive measures to minimize future occurrences.
- Maintain and update safety data sheets (SDS) and ensure compliance with hazard communication standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement ergonomic solutions, promote wellness initiatives, and mitigate occupational health risks.
- Stay updated on relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and industry best practices, and communicate changes and updates to the organization.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, participating in inspections, audits, and permit applications.
- Serve as the main point of contact for both manufacturing sites and supports site PSM Process Engineer in overseeing PSM program requirements
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, and coordinate drills and exercises to ensure preparedness. Serves as site Emergency Coordinator for EHS programs.
