What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Coach position at Home of New Vision?
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the JARC Program Manager, JARC Recovery coaches, perform a variety of tasks relating to recovery coaching for participants at Home of New Vision and the community. The position requires an understanding of all aspects of the Recovery Oriented System of Care approach and the relationships necessary to facilitate coordination with the recovery community, treatment services, organization and scheduling of activities and tasks: tracking information and data entry. This position is generally located at the Jackson Recovery Resource Center, although the Peer Recovery Coach may perform duties at other locations including health centers, hospitals, and Corrections facilities and in the field, and may work with specific populations such as women specific.
DESCRIPTION:
1. Engages with and develops relationships with participants.
2. Acting Advocate for participant with community and needed services.
3. Provides transportation to twelve step, other recovery meetings or other recovery activities.
4. Uses strengths-based approach to assist participants in developing goal plans and steps to meet goals.
5. Participate in phone screenings.
6. Complete data entry for required reports (mandatory)
7. Assist participants in assessing, building/rebuilding their recovery capital.
8. Document life issues with participants.
9. Document progress in stages of recovery with participants.
10. Guide the new person into the recovery community.
11. Provide participant pick-ups for Home of New Vision appointments.
12. May provide services at alternate locations such as emergency rooms, medical clinics and in the field.
13. May provide SBIRT and ASSERT services at Primary Care Settings, hospitals.
14. Participates in performance reviews as appropriate.
15. When performing duties in primary care settings and hospitals, agrees to follow all rules and regulations of the entity at which they are giving services.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of two years of continuous recovery from substance use disorders. They must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively as well as efficiently be able to manage priorities. Able to work with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds. Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and ability to use standard office equipment i.e. computers, faxes, copiers, printers and calculators. Have a current and valid driver's license. Have a current and valid driver's license. Willing to be a Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) through Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) within 6 months of employment.
EXPECTATIONS:
This position must maintain strict confidentiality in performing the duties of the Peer Recovery Coach. Additionally, this position requires tracking information and complete and accurate data entry for report writing.
