A Day in the Life:
The Respiratory Therapist at the Kosair for Kids Complex Care will provide specialized care for residents with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders under the direction of Respiratory Leadership. The respiratory therapist will engage in care treatments and diagnostic procedures to improve residents' quality of life.
Shift: Full-time: Days, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM, 2-3 shifts per week, including rotating weekends

A Day in the Life:
The Respiratory Therapist at the Kosair for Kids Complex Care will provide specialized care for residents with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders under the direction of Respiratory Leadership. The respiratory therapist will engage in care treatments and diagnostic procedures to improve residents' quality of life.
Shift: Full-time: Days, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM, 2-3 shifts per week, including rotating weekends
Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates effective daily communication skills and maintains professionalism in all interactions
- Exceed expectations of internal and external customers: Residents, Families, Physicians, Colleagues, Visitors and Vendors
- Adheres to Home of the Innocents standards and procedures
- Coordinates care with interdisciplinary departments, as needed
- Completes responsibilities within established time frames
- Provides teaching and coaching as needed to residents, families, students/medical residents
- Participates in Pulmonary Rounds as needed
- Administers pharmacological drugs via compressed gas daily
- Conducts pulmonary toilet procedures daily
- Participates in ventilator and blood gas management
- Maintains competency in medical emergencies as needed
- Enhances residents' quality of life daily.
- Maintains relevant certifications and education as needed
- Performs other assigned tasks as needed
- Current, unencumbered Respiratory Therapist license/certification in Kentucky
- National Board of Respiratory Care certification or registration for Cardiopulmonary Services
- Proficiency in administering routine and special treatments
- Knowledge of personal hygiene, health, and safety precautions
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Familiarity with infection control procedures
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding)
- Ability to document and communicate effectively
- Basic computer proficiency
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with residents and facility staff
