Sr. Software Developer
We are seeking a Sr. Software Developer in the IT Field Technology and Innovations department to analyze complex operations and systems for Modern Woodmen of America. This individual will implement changes and improvements using advanced programming, systems analysis, design and problem-solving techniques.

Responsibilities:
- Perform and/or lead the technical design and development of complex application systems using existing and emerging technology platforms.
- Lead technical staff and users to research, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems. Estimate and define project timeline and tasks; analyze and estimate time and resources, and lead change impact analysis.
- Recommend system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development versus purchase alternatives.
- Design, code, test, debug, document, maintain, and modify computer programs of high complexity, significance, and risk in accordance with the Society’s established Software Development Life Cycle standards and development guidelines.
- Develop technical documentation that accurately and thoroughly depicts the software design and code base to assist Quality Assurance testing and production support activities.
- Create and review unit and test plans. Identify opportunities to improve testing process.
- Analyze, identify, and troubleshoot issues encountered in production and/or reported by users, by investigating and conducting in-depth research and debugging code.
- Coordinate operations between departments to assure smooth implementation of procedures and/or operations.
- Impart technical guidance and training to fellow software developers and train users in the use of new or revised systems.
- Provide updates to the Software Development Supervisor and Project Managers on work in progress, work completed, work planned and issues potentially impacting on-time completion or quality of work.
- Evolve job knowledge by researching new technologies and software products, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
What we need:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
- 5 years’ experience.
- Working knowledge of the following technologies preferred:
- Visual Studio
- Net
- C#
- SQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and practice good time management skills, both individually and as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of object-oriented programming, relational databases, strong application design, in-depth documentation and analysis.
- Stay current on new technologies and software by engaging in continuous learning and professional activities.
What we offer:
- Pay: The annual pay range for this position is $85,000.00-$100,000.00. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
- Work Arrangements: This is a full-time hybrid position: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day), Monday- Friday, with flexible start time between 7:00AM-9:00AM. Hybrid positions work at least 3 days in office and the remaining days each week working from home. Employees beginning to work in a new hybrid role will be required to work on-site (5 days a week) during the initial training period which may be up to 1 year.
