Special Needs Nanny in Jupiter, Florida
Seeking a compassionate and experienced Special Needs Nanny to provide dedicated care for their 7-year-old daughter. The child is nonverbal, autistic, and attends a specialized ABA school from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The family is looking for someone who can assist in the afternoons, evenings, and occasionally overnight or on weekends. This is a full-time role with a focus on ensuring the child’s safety, comfort, and happiness.
Position Highlights
- $30 Hourly
- Start Date: ASAP
- Schedule: Monday through Friday 2:30-8:30 pm
- Guaranteed hours every week
- Flexibility for one 8 hour shift per weekend, with 2 weeks advance notice
- Benefits: 2 weeks of paid vacation 2-4 sick/personal days, major holiday off and paid
Role Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, specialized childcare in a structured, nurturing environment
- Assist with transitions, including helping getting in and out of the car (lifting up to 50 pounds as needed)
- Plan and engage in sensory-friendly, age-appropriate activities
- Support the child's developmental and behavioral goals in coordination with her ABA program
- Assist with meals, hygiene, and bedtime routines
- Ensure her safety at all times, especially around the pool
- Collaborate with the family and other caregivers to maintain a consistent care routine
Qualifications
- Special Needs Expertise: Extensive experience working with nonverbal autistic children required
- Must be able to swim, there is a pool at the home
- Physical Capability: Able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Education: Background in childcare, special education, or ABA therapy preferred
- Language Skills: Strong English communication skills
- Driving Record: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Personality Traits: Compassionate, patient, proactive, and resourceful
- Pet Friendly: Comfortable around two friendly dogs (yellow lab and black lab mix)
- This role may occasionally involve overnights or a weekend day, so flexibility is essential
- Provide 3-5 professional references
