About Us:
Home2 Suites by Hilton in St. Charles is excited to announce an opportunity for a Hotel General Manager to lead our team as we prepare for the opening of a newly renovated hotel, set to launch sometime around April 2025. This all-suite extended stay hotel will offer modern, eco-friendly accommodations, and we are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic leader to join us on this exciting journey!
Position Overview:
The Hotel General Manager (GM) will oversee all aspects of hotel operations, from the final stages of renovation through the successful opening and beyond. This is a hands-on role requiring leadership, project management, and operational expertise. The General Manager oversees all aspects of daily operations at the hotel. You will provide leadership and strategic planning to all departments, such as housekeeping, front office, food and beverage, and maintenance. In this role, you will work to ensure guest satisfaction and obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations.
Key Responsibilities:Pre-Opening Operations:
- Work closely with the ownership group, corporate team, and vendors to ensure a successful renovation and timely opening.
- Participate in staffing, training, and operational setup, including setting procedures, systems, and guest service standards.
- Oversee pre-opening marketing strategies and build brand awareness in the local community.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Recruit, hire, train, and lead a team of hotel staff, ensuring alignment with brand standards and company culture.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, with a focus on team development, retention, and performance.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and feedback to staff to improve guest service and operational performance.
Hotel Operations:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the hotel, ensuring smooth and efficient performance across all departments, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and sales.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, service, and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance of the hotel, ensuring profitability while maintaining a guest-first approach.
Guest Satisfaction & Community Relations:
- Lead efforts to ensure excellent guest experiences, including addressing guest concerns, promoting loyalty programs, and monitoring guest feedback.
- Develop and nurture relationships with local businesses, organizations, and key stakeholders to enhance community involvement and brand visibility.
- Strong supervisory skills; ability to appropriately assign/delegate work and authority to others in the accomplishment of goals; provide coaching, advice and assistance as required; help employees overcome obstacles and deal with problems.
- Must be capable of performing all hourly functions and operating all equipment in the hotel.
- Ability to use repetitive hand and body motions such as grasping, writing, typing, listening, hearing, and visual acuity.
- Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for prolonged periods of time.
- Knowledge of safety management principles; federal and state OSHA regulations; safety, emergency, and accident policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years’ experience as a GM, 5 years’ hotel operations experience in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
- Experience with operating a Property Management System(s).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong understanding of hotel operations, including revenue management, staffing, budgeting, and guest services.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a culture of service excellence.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience with pre-opening hotel management is a plus.
- Review financial reports and statements to understand the property’s performance versus budget and expenses.
- Lead the property in generation of revenue through sales and marketing efforts.
- Manage costs within the hotel, including supplies, utilities, labor expenses to within budget parameters, combing with sales/revenue acumen to deliver an efficient and profitable operation.
- Hire and train employees to support successful daily operations.
- Coach and support the hotel team to effectively manage occupancy and rates, wages, and controllable expenses.
- Ensure full compliance to the hotel’s operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures and service standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
