Position Summary
As a Housing Coordinator you will provide services to support people to live successfully in the community. These services are targeted to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, or they are living in an institution or other segregated setting or at risk of living in a segregated setting. The purpose of Housing Stabilization Services is to support an individual’s transition into housing, increase long-term stability in the community and avoid future periods of homelessness or institutionalization. Services will be provided in the person’s home, at an office location, or in the community. Services provided will strongly emphasize personal goal setting and developing strategies to achieve them, skill building, advocacy, and connecting persons with community resources. This role requires compassion, critical thinking, and strong organizational skills to empower individuals to overcome housing challenges.
Responsibilities
- Assist with housing searches and applications, lease negotiations, and tenant education.
- Support individuals in maintaining housing stability through advocacy, crisis management, and connection to resources.
- Collaborate with landlords, property managers, and other community resources to support individuals’ housing goals.
- Ensure that services are connected to the person-centered housing plan that is developed with each person and delivered in a manner that is culturally sensitive and culturally appropriate following a holistic and person-centered delivery method.
- Identify and assist with resolving barriers in accessing housing.
- Meet with persons on your caseload on an ongoing and regular basis.
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
- Demonstrate respect, honesty, and trustworthiness in all interactions.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures, including timely and accurate documentation, delivery of service standards, and productivity expectations.
Qualifications
Required:
- At least 18 years old.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Valid Minnesota driver's license, reliable transportation, and valid insurance, and be willing to transport persons on services in delivery of services provided.
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to plan and manage time in a self-directed capacity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A completed Background Study with DHS with a determination of ‘Eligible’ is required for the position.
Preferred:
- Associate of Arts Degree or, Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, or related field.
- Experience providing direct social services, particularly with individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
- Knowledge of housing systems, tenant rights, and landlord relationships.
