JOB SUMMARY
The Insurance Sales Agent makes daily outbound sales calls, answers inbound sales calls/referrals, and responds to web leads. This position reports to the Sales Team Lead and offers insurance quotes to prospective new customers through the many top carriers HFA represents.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Prospective Buyers and Lenders
- Serves as primary point of contact for prospective buyers and lenders.
- Performs outbound call prospecting, contacts potential customers, and identifies needs assuring qualification and closing sales.
- Answers calls, prepares, and underwrites quotes generated from incoming sales calls.
- Maintains follow up bucket to continue driving sales process and closes completed sales.
- Requests quotes via HomeFirst Agency Website to prepare and email potential customers looking to be quoted.
- Communicates with Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance Inc. and other outside lenders to facilitate post-sale processes.
Analyzes and Underwrites Policies
- Underwrites policies with a fair and objective process that protects the company and provides correct and adequate coverage for customers.
- Ensures compliance with telemarketing regulations, internal policies, and industry best practices throughout the insurance purchase.
- Gathers and maintains records, files, and additional underwriting exhibits such as pictures and appraisals.
- Preserves organized records of sales applications, correspondence, and related documentation.
- Maintains knowledge of available insurance products.
Sales Minded and Collaboration
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with clients, referral partners, and other stakeholders to foster repeat business and referrals.
- Engages in networking activities and relationship-building efforts to expand the organization's network, generate leads, and cultivate new business opportunities.
- Markets and promotes Silverton Mortgage/Clayton Building Group Program by developing and cultivating relationships.
- Sets individual monthly sales goals to drive incentives and sales numbers.
- Collaborates with processors and loan officers at Silverton Mortgage to promote HomeFirst products.
- Partners with Service department to promote current customer referral program.
- Communicates and interacts effectively with internal customers and external consumers via phone, email, and fax.
- Distributes and works various lead buckets successfully within a team environment.
- Ensures follow-up for insurance application signatures.
- Services existing auto policies.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent, college preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of sales experience required.
- Current TN Property and Casualty License preferred. If not currently licensed, must obtain license within 90 days of hire. Continued education is also required.
- Must have strong computer skills with ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must possess the ability to clearly communicate with customers, peers, and superiors alike, explaining complex concepts and addressing numerous concerns from potential clients.
- Must be able to manage many tasks simultaneously, be an expert time manager, self-sufficient and able to work with minimal to no supervision.
- Outbound sales, cold-calling and telephone prospecting skills are bolstered by clear speaking ability, creative conversation, empathetic and active listening skills, and deductive/investigative reasoning abilities.
- Expected to complete underwriting on policies that are going to be issued. This requires insightful thinking and deductive reasoning abilities.
- Flexible and adaptive to change. An agent must be able to anticipate potential problems and develop solutions rapidly.
- Maintains excellent knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations.
- Capability of gathering facts accurately, analyzing causes, evaluating alternate solutions, and arriving at sound conclusions on action to be taken.
- Good sense of urgency and follow up.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.

- Must be able to exchange accurate information at all times.
- Must be able to identify and assess account status and determine appropriate process.
