FLOAT POSITION:
This is a FLOAT position, meaning the applicant will be on call during available hours and will be paid whether they cover a called-off shift or not. The applicant is expected to respond to all calls from the agency regarding shift coverage and report within a timely manner to the client needing care.
1) Personal Care: Assist clients with daily activities such as assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting, while respecting their dignity, privacy, and personal preferences.
2) Medication Reminders: Remind your client to take his/her medication at the appropriate time.
3) Mobility Assistance: Provide physical assistance and support to clients with mobility challenges, including transferring, walking, and using mobility aids such as walkers or wheelchairs.
4) Companionship: Engage clients in meaningful conversations, activities, and hobbies to promote socialization, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being.
5) Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare nutritious meals based on dietary restrictions, preferences, and client requirements, ensuring a balanced and healthy diet.
6) Light Housekeeping: Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as tidying up living spaces, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients.
7) Transportation: Accompany clients to medical appointments, social outings, grocery shopping, and other activities as needed, ensuring their safety and comfort during transportation.
8) Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with office staff to provide updates on the client's condition, progress, and any concerns as well as any scheduling issues or emergencies.
9) Record-Keeping & Electronic Visit Verification: Document and maintain accurate records of client care, including daily activities, assigned tasks, any client request and any significant observations or changes in the client’s condition.
10) Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Recognize and respond to emergency situations promptly, following established protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.
11) Respect and Professionalism: Demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism in all interactions with clients, their families, office staff and other healthcare professionals. Show up to scheduled shifts on time and with a positive attitude.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a caregiver or in a related healthcare field is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare procedures is a plus
- Ability to drive and have a valid driver's license is not required but is highly preferred
